Slide Presentation to Mr. Munda's class

Today, we started out by giving our slide presentation to Mr. Munda's class at 9:15 am. This is a small class of less than 10 students and everyone was happy to see us. Some already knew about the project and shared their connections to Japan. We asked what the word "resiliency" means and Mr. Munda reminded the students of when he talked about "the palm tree and the redwood tree". Students immediately remembered the word and explained to us that when the strong wind blows, the palm tree will sway but remain firmly rooted to the ground, and the redwood tree will instead stand firmly upright. Students told us that there are different ways to approach difficult situations and that both type of trees express different kinds of resilience.
We related this to how the people of Japan are coping with their difficult situation.
